We aren’t winter people. We took Olivia sledding for the first time this year, and she’s going to be four in July. She loved it. Now that it’s spring, and it’s beautiful out we’re going sledding every day – but in minus fifteen? There’s no way.
We’re indoor kind of play-ers. With this indoor time throughout the winter, there was a definite increase in screen time. The iPad, Netflix, Wii U – Olivia was definitely privvy to three hours of daily screentime or more (if we’re being completely honest) here.
With the beautiful weather that we’ve been having for the last couple of days. The screen time has been cut. And? We’ve been outside playing a lot more. Even Violet, who it turns out, loves to be outside.
One hour during the day, thirty minutes at night when she is winding down before bed playing Wii U or iPad with her Dad. She’s been fine with this for the past few days – and I plan to continue.
When our nephew came to visit the last couples of times during the day it’s been beautiful out. He came over to play PS3 and Olivia uses her screen time in the morning while I am pre-writing posts, scheduling updates and answering emails. So, the last couples of times to his disdain, there’s been no PS3
playing arguing while he’s here, instead I made them go outside, and play Monopoly. New rep? Worst Aunt Ever. He’s going to have to come earlier.
Do you cut back screen time in the Spring? Get rid of Cable in the Summer?
