Deciphering the prices at Costco doesn’t have to drive you crazy. Learning a few simple tricks can help to change the way you look at prices – and can get you some great deals when you’re shopping in-store. Jenna knows how much I love Costco, and sent us along these tips.
So, what are some of the things you should be watching for when you’re shopping at Costco?
Prices that End in $.99These are considered regular prices at Costco – although there are prices that are marked down (the reason you might want to snap some pictures or keep track of the items that you are interested in), they’re going to be the regular price of most items in-store.
Prices that End in $.97Prices at Costco that end in $.97 are on clearance. The store is trying to get rid of these items and there are limited quantities. Whatever is on the shelf is usually the last of it and most often you will find similar clearance through stores in the same city.
Prices that Have Stars on the TagWatch while you are shopping in store for price tags that have a star in the top corner. This means that the item isn’t going to be restocked. If there are limited quantities you are going to want to buy it now, or soon. If there are quite a few left, you can wait until the price reduced (as there is a chance that’s going to happen too).
Prices that End in $.79/$.49Price tags that end in these have been reduced by the store. In most cases, the items weren’t selling as quick as the store would like and therefore Costco has contacted the manufacturer and asked to reduce the price of the items. Watch the prices, as it’s likely these items are going to be on clearance in the future (especially if there is a lot of that item).
Keeping track of the prices in-store is one of the most important things that you can do while shopping at Costco. Taking a note can ensure that you know when the price has been reduced and even make you money. If the item has been reduced within thirty days of purchase you can visit customer service and get refunded the amount (as long as there are more items in stock).
