I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I hate paying for diapers. I mean, not enough to go through the hassle of using cloth diapers (before you tell me that it’s not more effort than disposable, stop! I just cannot wrap my head around cloth diapers. I tried, it’s not for us).
When it comes to diapers though, I shop smart. I shop the sales and paid no more than $100 for diapers for Olivia back in the good old days when you could stack coupons at London Drugs. For Violet, with the stash and stockpile we had left over, vouchers and deals for Well.ca diaper packages from Daily Deal sites and getting free diapers from Shoppers Drug Mart during special optimum point bonus events, we’re still under the $250 mark and she will be a year old this week.
We have four boxes of diapers and a dozen or so bags in the closet and I intend to do a big diaper stock up this weekend at Shoppers Drug Mart, to save the most while diapering that cute little behind.
When it comes to diapers, I will try them all. If Baby Life diapers are buy one get one free at Shoppers and come out to around ten cents a diaper, I’ll get those. If Pampers are available through the daily deal website, I’ll get those. If the PC Green diapers are $7.99 for a Mega pack you can bet I am going to buy those.
You can bet that even when she’s out of diapers I’ll still be stashing away the buy one get one free sales, using the VIB coupons at Shoppers Drug Mart to get practically free diapers and buying a box of Kirkland diapers at Costco on sale now and then. Stocking up ahead of time for the next child we have is going to stop that addition to the grocery bill every couple of weeks. It’s going to save big – as long as you’re not picky.
If you want to save on diapers, you can’t be brand loyal. I honestly don’t notice a difference when we use the different types of diapers (except for Huggies pure and natural and PC green diapers being softer and Huggies fitting smaller than Pampers). That’s about it. When it comes to performance, they get peed in – is it really worth buying diapers that aren’t on sale because they’re your brand?
What do you think? Are you brand loyal to diapers?
