It was a gorgeous day for puddle jumping. Well, the kind where you need a winter hat to do it. So, off to the playground we went this morning for a quick walk and the first adventure in the pink birthday wagon.
The morning was going fine – well, as fine as a kid who hates winter jackets and all things involved with being inside of her jacket can go.
Bonus? There were even a couple of kids at the park Olivia’s age for her to play with. Being courteous, I gently reminded her to be careful when she was splashing and try not to get the other kids wet.
Nice, right? Polite even?
Apparently not enough for Nasty Playground Mom. NPM took this opportunity to state in her most condescending playground voice that “Oh, it’s fine I dressed my kids for the weather”. If sarcasm was a font, that sentence would be in all caps.
Seriously NPM? It’s not even ten in the morning and we’re already insulting parenting?
Boots? Check. Hooded sweater and hat? Done. Gloves. Yup. Head to toe waterproof apparel? No? You’re failing as a mother.
I kind of just looked at her, shocked that she just said that, in that tone. Then, I went back to the iPhone (you know, like all the good Moms do at the park).
I’m going to chalk this one of up a rough morning – but come on Moms. Let’s at least wait until after lunch to insult the other Moms.
Have you encountered the Nasty Playground Mom?
