Last year Olivia and I were watching movies during a snow day and it was a rare, rare time when she sat and cuddled as we watched a non-animated, adult movie. The movie, I Don’t Know How She Does It didn’t capture her attention until Sarah Jessica Parker was on the phone with one of her children, singing them a good night song. Immediately, she asked who she was singing to and I explained that she wasn’t there to put them to bed, so she was singing them a song.
Nearly a year later, and we’re still doing a bedtime song – or, you know, a verse from the song. The ‘pushell and beck’ song is a regular tradition at bedtime, and it’s honestly one of my favorite times of the day.
Looking for a special tradition to start at bedtime? Here are ten of our favorites – and the songs on the bedtime playlist:
Bushel and a Peck
2. Little Things, One Direction
3. Beautiful Child, Fleetwood Mac
4. Us, Regina Spektor
5. The Story, Brandi Carlile
6. All is Love, Karen O & the Kids
7. In these Arms, The Swell Season
8. I Remember, Damian Rice
9. Brighter than Sunshine, Aqualung
10. More to Luv, Minnutes
Just a few lines of these songs are filled with love and cute verses that can bring on bedtime memories filled with the warm and fuzzies for the years to come. They’re easy to sing, and fun (Us is one of our favorites) to sing together. Although she’s only three, she is learning the words and getting those quality moments, to make memories – for free.
