It’s the third day of the road trip. We’ve been to Drumheller where we hunted for Hoodoos and spent way too much money in the gift shop of the Royal Tyrell. We went to Discovery Canyon and had a picnic while the girls revelled in walking in the ‘dried up lake’. We spent the night in Canmore and are now in Radium for a few days to spend some time poolside in September, hike a mountain or two, blow glow in the dark bubbles and cross those last few things off of our summer to do list.
Day three has been great but two days of driving has left the kids exhausted. Tonight was the first time in months that I’ve seen Violet fall asleep in Jamie’s arms. I guess two trips to the pool will do that to you, but let’s get serious. The kids can’t go to bed at
six train wreck o’clock.
So, I remembered the tattoos that I grabbed while Olivia was browsing at Claires in Cross Iron Mills yesterday and brought them inside. Sheer delight, requests for more and mom and dad getting in on the tattoo fun combined with a little Sofia the First in the background made the last two hours before the we put the kids to be
delightful tolerable – and making us optimistic about the mini-road trips planned over the next three days of vacation.
