This year to celebrate Valentine’s Day we are going to focus on kind acts of love. With each other, for the people that we know, and for the people that we don’t. Today, we kicked off the celebrations and decorated the heart shaped chocolate donuts that I made for the kids last night. They are going to let the icing set and we’re going to delivery a couple to the neighbors to kick off Valentine’s Day season (because that’s totally a thing).
For ease of use, we iced with chocolate colored wafer melts and the kids used the Valentine’s candy of thier choice, sprinkles and mini chocolate chips. The donuts were nice and chocolatey, and would make perfect s’mores donuts something that we’ll work on for second batch that I put into the freezer.
Easy Baked Chocolate Donut Recipe
2 cups flour
1/2 cup cocoa
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup milk
1 cup brown sugar
6 tbs butter
2 tsp vanilla
Combine all the dry ingredients together inside of the stand mixer, or bowl. Add in the wet ingredients and mix until combined. After that’s finished, line a bowl with a large ziploc freezer bag. Fill the batter into the bag and make a small cut on one of the corners so you’re able to pipe it into the donut pans.
Don’t overfill the Donut pans. We overfilled a few of them and got some really puffy donuts for our first batch. I would recommend staying under 2/3 fill when you’re going to fill up the donut pans.
