Pizza dough is one of those versatile recipes that I’ve learned to make and transformed into Calzones, pizzas for the kid, garlic fingers, garlic twist bread and dessert pizzas with nutella and banana. Armed with an easy pizza dough recipe, I’ve been able to satisfy the craving for one of Jamie’s pizzas, at-home (and successfully suck-up for being a crazy person the day before). This delicious pizza was even better the next day and I really enjoyed the crisp and thick dough.
Meaty Sauce Pizza
1 batch of pizza dough
2 cups meat sauce (prepare ahead of time and freeze for easy assembly)
really any meat of your choice
Assemble the pizza dough according to my easy recipe and flatten to about 1/2 inch thick. This pizza is going to be very topping heavy so you’re going to need a good crust. To spread it out, put a bit of olive oil on your hands and spread the dough. It’s it been rising long enough it shouldn’t be a problem at all to get it spread out evenly.
Top the pizza with the meat sauce, adding a bit of extra pizza sauce if you find the sauce too thin. Add the pepperoni, ham, italian sausage, bacon or whatever meat you choose to add on to the pizza and top with cheese. Bake for 18-25 minutes on 375 degrees. Check the pizza often, baking time may vary depending on the thickness of the crust or the toppings, or your preference for pizza to be well done.
Dough makes two medium pizzas, or one pizza and one bubbly garlic cheese sticks (garlic butter and cheese to top)
