With date night, it’s simple to get stuck in a rut. Usually, we’re up for grabbing something to eat without the kids in tow and checking out a new movie. When Jamie suggested the Hawker’s Market, I was skeptical, as I’ve never heard of it – and wasn’t sure whether it was going to be great.
Live music, great opportunities to connect with other people at the market and the chance to enjoy some food from delicious food trucks and local vendors that you might not have otherwise had the chance to try are three of the reasons that it made for an awesome date night. The environment was fantastic, and I spotted a lot of familiar faces from Twitter, some we had the chance to go say hello, and some we didn’t.
The next Hawker’s Market is on June 7th or 14th, to be determined. Tickets for the event are $10 and you’re going to want to bring cash to sample some of the delicious food.
Our technique? Try everything. We bought one of everything to share, and discovered some delicious pulled pork, and donuts that Jamie didn’t have a chance to try because I ate them all.
If memory serves, I think we brought $40 or $50 with us for Date night, and still had a bit left over when it was time to go home. That included tasting quite a few of the things there and a couple of beers. With the $10 ticket cost ahead (you can show the tickets on your phone so you don`t need to worry about printing) it`s comparable to a date night out for dinner without the kids – and less than the cost of dinner and the movies + a lot more fun.
