A few weeks ago a friend signed up for Color Me Rad in Edmonton. I had been dreading it for the entire two weeks and secretly hoped that we would get rained out. Getting up at 7:30, I was tired but got the hype when the excitement from the girls we were with rubbed off a little on me. It wasn’t until we actually arrived that the actual fun of fun-runs was introduced to me.
This morning we experienced the party of color and simultaneously decided that it would be even better if we had pre-race mimosas. We ran less than a quarter of the way through the 5K this morning, and left covered in colors that brought out fifty shades of jealous in Olivia when we got home, and it got me to thinking – why didn’t we bring her with us? The loud music, bright colors and tattoos would be perfect for my her.
Fun runs are an out of the ordinary way for the entire family to get out and get active, but it isn’t cheap. When compared with the excited look, the chance to get active and make summer memories that are going to be talked about for months, the cost seems well worth it. If you want to plan ahead of time for next year, you can order this awesome kids rad pack from the Color Me Rad website.
Our Upcoming Fun Run Plans in Edmonton
It was the first time we’ve done a fun 5K (or any 5K at all) and it was a great experience. So, it prompted me to research a few of the upcoming fun 5Ks in Edmonton – and plan a date night (the neon run) and a goal race to run the entire 5k (the night race). The t-shirt swag is always cool, the night out is always welcome and the making it a goal to run the entire thing is something to work towards.
