As always, we last minute shopped for shoes for back to school. Turns out, those few pairs of shoes I ordered for Olivia a while back for back to school didn’t stand a chance against a summer growth spurt. While we shopped, we had narrowed down a few choices but Olivia’s (and mine) were laced, and despite the fact that I showed Olivia this ridiculously easy way to tie her shoes, Jamie insisted that we skip the laces for the sake of her kindergarten teacher.
Narrowing down the choices, the Velcro Pumas she had in mind were clunky, and not a fantastic choice for being able to run around with ease. Plus, they were a bit small and SportChek didn’t have the next size up in stock, you know, since school starts in less than twenty four hours.
As I was browsing for yet another pair of purple shoes in stock, I discovered something that might be my new favorite product, that made the shoes she wanted (laced, and on sale) work. Hickies laces alternative were a choice that made the laced shoes easy, giving her some time to work on that lace tying technique.
Wondering whether they’re durable? To get them into her shoes I was pulling on them harder than she is ever going to – and putting them to the true test. Simple to put in, you can find them at Sport Chek for $14.99 for a pack of 14. You can shop for them online, in fabulous neon colors, regular colors and designs to match every shoe and a few different ways to lace them up.
My only complaint? The pack of 14 seems off, it’s enough for one pair of shoes – but for a kid it’s almost enough for two. Despite the fact that there are 6 left over, I’ll stash them away for Violet, or if we need to replace Olivia’s, if I don’t get too tempted to replace my own laces with the fun neon colors.
