There are some things that I love about camping: being outdoors, watching the kids enjoy those new experiences, eating 900 marshmallows, and sleeping in the freshest of air. Then, there are the things that I loathe about camping: packing for camping, making sure the kids have clothes for every weather situation and setting up the tent.
90% of the time, when we’re setting up camp Jamie and I are bickering about terrible I am at setting up the tent and how I am holding my side of the tent the wrong way, connecting the wrong piece, breaking the tent poles – well, this summer, there was none of that. This summer, we made some changes to the way that we camp with the Coleman Instant tent.
Tenting: Extra Space vs. Added Convenience
Last year, the tent that we were using was double the size. In the tent, we had a cot for Olivia, an air mattress for us and a pack and play for Violet. It took no less than twenty minutes to set-up, and always, always, left me filled with angst for camping. Inside, there was a lot of space for the kids to run around – but that’s not the point of a tent.
This year, we’ve been using the Coleman Instant Tent and it’s changed the way that I think about camping. Not only is it easier to set-up, getting the job done in a minute (literally), but when it comes time to take it down, it’s just as fast. Getting it taken down and back into the bag is much easier than our larger tent, and to be honest, I didn’t miss the space. The six person tent could easily accommodate an air mattress, two cots and a pack and play or bassinet if we choose to have another child in the future.
Plus, if we needed more space and wanted the convenience, there’s a 10-person Coleman Instant Tent available in the family of products.

The 6-Person Coleman Instant Tent
The tent really is instant. Me, the terrible camp-setter-up was able to get the tent up, alone in just over the sixty seconds. It was so simple that even the kids got the hang of it – and was just as simple to take down. We even got it back in the bag without having to put it away as much as possible and finish the job when we got home.
– The clips are already attached to the poles, no more clipping and pinching fingers
– Poles are easy pulled and locked, or released and unlocked for quick set-up and take down
– Sixty second set-up – literally
– Fits two queen size air mattresses (or one mattress, and two kids cots)
– Adjustable top air vents
– Weathertec System to keep everyone dry
– A lightweight 21.8 lbs
– Standard storage pockets inside, with the looped lantern holder in the center at the top
With the easy to use features, the quick set-up and take down of the tent and the durable design and spacious interior – we’ve changed the way that camp and regained the sanity that comes with tent challenges. Coleman has made camping simple – and I can’t wait to get out there again next year.
