Last January I sent a desperate text to my sister in law requesting her to bring us Lysol wipes and disinfectant spray, popsicles and Gatorade. Everyone in our house but Violet was sick – and so we needed a few things to keep everyone happy, and keep the last person standing healthy, by stopping the spread of germs.
She dropped off a bag with Lysol wipes and popsicles. Ringing the doorbell, and was back into her car with a wave, before we got to the door. It was like ding-dong-ditch, flu edition.
Last week, we had a chance to pay it forward when we found out of one our friends was dealing with three sick kids, and coming down with it herself.
Paying ‘Flu Season Kindness’ Forward
We did a ‘door drop’ with a quick basket I put together to help one of our favorite families through a rough couple of days, dealing with three kids with the flu. I remember how kindness last year made being sick just a little easier.
I included the same things that we use at home to keep colds and flu at bay – I knew that she would find the convenience of the Lysol wipes [http://www.lysol.ca/] to clean hard surfaces like doorknobs as handy as I do. Lysol can help eliminate the germs and bacteria that causes viruses. We also like to use the Lysol Disinfectant Spray to kill odours and germs.
I remember reading somewhere that Moms are a big part of germs being spread around, and admit that I’m totally guilty! Sharing towels after baths, wiping faces and noses on them after a shower, sharing snacks with each other and letting the kids drink after one another – all things that I needed to stop during cold and flu season. Do I wash my hands enough? Am I spreading the germs? Having a Lysol no-touch hand sanitizer station in the kitchen makes it a bit less likely that I’m going to be spreading those germs wiping noses.
Soup, juice, freezies or popsicles and a loaf of homemade bread make for an easy lunch, a quick throat soother and are chock full of vitamin C to help everyone get better faster. You could even include an easy freezer meal. No wants to cook when they’re dealing with a bout of the flu, right?
TIP: Include some disposable cups, to avoid the spread of germs during a bout of the flu. Read more tips for Illness prevention.
The next time you’re shopping, grab a few extra packages of Lysol wipes for the next time you’ve got to wipe down a bathroom to stop the spread of flu at-home (or for the next time you want to pay it forward with ‘flu season kindness’).
SAVE: Use this coupon to save $1 off of your next Lysol purchase.
