Adventures are one of my favorite parts of Spring Break. With an entire week off of school, it’s the perfect time to get away and take the week off of work to explore, discover and spend time together as a family. We’ve got the when, you just need to decide the where. Here are a few ways to inspire adventure over Spring Break.
If you feel the same way about the cold as we do, we’re inst-friends. Though we’ve been trying to embrace the winter, it doesn’t stop me from browsing the travel sites perusing for that last minute deal. Costa Rica, Riviera Maya and Kauai and Vegas are four of the places that have caught my eye – and have surprisingly affordable last minute options.
Before booking, remember that there are some considerations that go hand-in-hand with travelling across borders. A big one is travel insurance. Western Financial Group recommends speaking with your insurance broker who will help ensure that you have coverage that meets the unique needs of every member of your family.
Dogsledding in Canmore
This winter, you can get away and experience Dog Sledding at one of our favorite destinations, Canmore. With the Winter Festival under way just in time for a March getaway, you can get out there and yell ‘mush’ like the best of them. You’re not going to want the miss the kids dog sledding races, but you’ve got two full weeks of fun if Canmore tops your list for a winter getaway.
Skiing + Golfing … In the same Day
Skiing and golfing? In the Okanagen, you can do just that. That’s a road trip that Dad would be up for, since those are two of his favorite things. Me? You’ll find me in the spa, at the pool and going down the ski hills on a tube with the kids.
If you plan on driving to the Okanagan, keep in mind that you will likely encounter some wintery conditions along the way. Western Financial Group reminds people to make sure they keep their winter tires on their cars until late April and to ensure they have an emergency kit stashed in their trunk before setting out on a road trip. This kit should include blankets, food, water, candles, matches and an adapter or batteries so you can charge your cellphone.
Whether you are taking on a brand new adventure this spring break or pursuing your favourite hobby, have fun and stay safe! More information on travel insurance is available at www.westernfinancialgroup.ca.
