A couple of years ago we made the decision to replace our dining table. Constant wiping of fingerprints from the glass table and the smaller size made meals crowded, and my sanity questioned. Searching through designs I found online, I fell in love with a rustic style of table that would easily seat seven and accommodate a bench along one side for the kids to share – but every table I fell in love with was so expensive.
If you’ve shopping for a rustic style of table, you know what I’m talking about. The wooden tables I fell in love with were designed with wide boards, in traditional styles and came with price tags of between $2,000-3,000. Sighing at the price tag, the dream had been foregone for something more practical – and left us in the market for another table and chairs, not even two years later.
The design isn’t the only thing that I love about the rustic style of table. I adore the fact that it’s created with real wood that could easily last until the children grow older, a table filled with the memories of family dinners on Saturday night, candles blown out at birthday celebrations, funny jokes, serious conversations and so much love.
Introducing William Rae Designs
William Rae Designs was created by a local couple, Courtney and Fraser. They are bringing their love for affordable, quality and gorgeous design to families just like us. The rustic inspired table pictured above was delivered by Fraser, where he helped to assemble it in our house and provided us with his phone number to call him if we had any questions.
Immediately, I was enamored with how solid the table actually is. I knew it was going to be solid, but I can barely move the table. Immediately I found the chairs that I wanted to pair with the table, and are still searching for a new bench for the other side, to add a touch of color, and chairs for the ends of the table.
Living with kids, it’s fantastic to know that we can refinish, repair and even sand down the table if it needs a little facelift in five years from kid scratches, or gouges or a five year old that is banging pistachio shells open with a tea cup. It’s reassuring to know that I’m only going to have to buy one table, instead of one day realizing that our table from the big box store has become creaky, scratched, dented and worn out, only a year after purchasing it. The tables are created with some ‘give’ in the design, meaning that the dryness of the home is less likely to affect the design of the table.
The wood grain, the strong legs, the natural surface, coated to protect against spills, against 1000+ meals eaten at the table every year – I love it all. So far, I’ve used water + soap, maybe a touch of natural cleaner to clean the table and I’ve got no doubts that five years from now, this table will stand up multiple children, dinners, homework, crafts and a mom working from home in that very spot.
Custom designing a table with William Rae Designs enabled us to choose the finish of the table, the size of the table, and the overall design. If you fell in love with the design, just like I did, you can get in touch with William Rae Designs on Facebook, or email firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more about this affordable+gorgeous table that cam with a shockingly affordable price tag of $700. Additional tables, sizes, designs and furniture pieces are available.
