You know how there are recipes that you make, and just want to eat with a spoon? This is one of those simple recipes. This recipe is going to be a treat for apples, a delight for waffles and pancake topping selections and added to brownies just before they’re finished cooking? Just get ready to find your little piece of heaven. It’s simple. It takes under five ingredients and you can store it in the fridge for up to a week to create delicious, and delightful treats that are going to bring your popcorn game to somewhere entirely new.
Five Minute Salted Caramel Sauce
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup heavy cream
In a small pan, melt the butter. When the butter is melted, add the brown sugar, vanilla, sea salt and heavy cream. Bring it to a boil, stirring constantly while it bubbles away and turn the heat back to medium low and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the sugar has been completely dissolved. Store it in the fridge for up to a week, heating it in the microwave to bring it back to the drizzling consistency.
How do we do it? Apples, waffles and ice cream are three of our favorite ways to use salted caramel – but this weekend we discovered something new – popcorn. Drizzled on popcorn and allowed to harden up a little but (it’s still going to be a sticky treat) and topped with chopped pecans, it’s a delicious alternative to salty popcorn that brings the salty and sweet together.
tip: use a bit more salted caramel and create delicious popcorn balls, perfect for sticking on lollipop sticks!
