I know that at some point we are going to reach a place where it’s going to be enjoyable to take both of the kids out for dinner. Right now though, unless we’re going out for date night or we’re checking out places where kids eat free, I prefer to grab something for take-out, bring it home and eat it, rather than bringing the kids with us.
Delicious fresh pasta, sauces that bring the flavour to your mouth in a big way and quick food that’s going to be perfect when you want to grab something on the way home, pasta pantry is a favorite. Order the large size and have lots left over for the next day, and the kids can easily share a meal with the included bread. Fresh pasta with alfredo sauce, and a meatball for good measure is one of my favorite ways to warm up when you need a bit of comfort food and don’t want to make dinner.
We’ve got a running argument about the best place to order Chinese or Thai food in Sherwood Park. I have tried every single one of them and have not been a fan. Don’t go in expecting authentic style Thai, but for those times you’re craving something like general tao chicken, pad thai or curry rice or ginger beef – it’s one of my top choices for ordering in Sherwood Park. With entrees, you get the choice of coconut or steamed rice (pick the coconut, it’s good). The kids are always happy to nosh the spring rolls, and entrees, making it a hit for dinner.

For those nights when you don’t want to grab something in a restaurant – try one of your favorite places to grab a quick bite to eat and get it to go. I like the cajun chicken burger, with veggies and we grab a meal to half-half for the kids to share. It’s especially helpful when you want something like Original Joe’s, where you can’t take the kids – because you can just call and order, and go pick it up. Last time, the sides of jalapeno cornbread and broccolini in butter and lemon won me over.
There’s something about those Spring rolls. They’re delicious. I like the fact that you can order Sushi, Teriyaki and even appetizers and a meal for the kids to share – and it’s something a little different than you’re usual take out choice. Get the teriyaki chicken spring rolls, and our kids like the rice bowls.
Donair pizza is my top choice for Nitza’s Pizza, but the other pizzas are pretty solid too. It’s not the cheapest pizza that you’re going to find, but the service is always great and the pizza is always tasty.
Quick burgers on the way home is something that we do a couple of times a month and my top choice is always Smash Burger. Lots of burger choices, chicken or beef, and a bunch of different options for sides, including veggie frites make it one of my solid top seven choices.
