I’ve got a confession to make. We are terrible at getting ‘posed’ pictures of the girls. We’ve got thousands of snaps at-home, multiple books of Instagram and Iphoneography snaps from every season and fun photo-booth style pictures at-home – but formal photos? We’ve never done it. You can bet how excited that the kids grandparents were when The Picture People invited us to come and check out the studio, seeing as the last photo we gave them of the girls was either a holiday card or an extra passport photo.
At The Picture People, portraits are made simple. The convenient portrait sessions begin with booking your appointment online. While you’re there you can view backdrops and get some inspiration for the portrait session. Next, you just have to show up and choose from a variety of backdrops and props. Twenty minutes later (you can browse buy buy BABY while you wait), you’re ready to leave with your chosen images, in your chosen sizes and format. It’s that easy.
Studio sessions are booked to take an average of about twenty minutes, longer for newborn photo shoots, and include props and multiple backdrops and styles, with no sitting fee.
The studio was fantastic with posing the girls. Olivia, a natural in front of the camera made it simple, but Violet was a bit more of a hard sell. The photographer was excellent with the girls, and assistants developing an immediate rapport with both of them, putting them at ease. I fell in love with images of the girls, especially one close cropped around their faces to reveal those small details, those secrets between the two, that I know I’ll remember every time I look at the photo. On the way home, I stopped to buy a couple of new frames for the photos – but if you want to really one stop shop, there are packages available with frames + even canvas prints available.
The Picture People Deals
The photo session we had this weekend has been one of the few times that people other than friends or I have taken the girls photo and I was impressed with the ability of the studio to pose the girls. I went into the portrait session expecting the photos that we have seen from other department stores, with that ‘portrait’ blue background, the folded hands in the lap and the white stool. Pleasantly surprised and adoring the images captured, I’ve already taken advantage of one of the Picture People offers to capture a bit more of ‘just Violet’ in the upcoming couple of months.
As soon as we left, I sent a message to my friend with a new baby. The studio has this adorable tiny newborn bed and it makes capturing those newborn moments affordable, and easy, because the last thing that you want to worry about with a new baby is to worry about making arrangements to print and pick up images later.
You can find fantastic limited-time-offer deals at the Picture People on Facebook like the $10 deal I sent to my friends with a Newborn infant. I found this $18 The Picture People deal on Groupon, perfect for spring images or a quick portrait for grandmother’s that have only passport photos of their grandchildren.
