SUMMER VACATION IS HERE! SUMMER VACATION IS HERE! That’s what I heard bright and early, seven o’clock this morning. It left me in a mad rush to figure out just what I was going to do to occupy these kids during the summer. I mean, I’ve got a good list of places to start – but they’re going to need something in the backyard to keep them cool (and having fun).
Slackers Slide & Surf is one of those things the kids have been asking to bring out since the box arrived in the mail from Mastermind Toys. Yesterday was the day we brought it out of the box, and I let them slide all day long, from start to finish, on the most fun thing we’ve got in the backyard.
Better than the One You Had
Be warned, there’s a lot of inflating with this slip and slide. It’s well-built, so there’s the launching area (inflatable), sides, and bottom pool and landing area that also has to be inflated all around. If you don’t have an air pump on hand, be prepared to blow the thing up for about twenty minutes.
After it’s inflated, there’s a side area where you attach the hose, and allow water to sprinkle through the side. I had a difficult time aligning the Slide n Surf to keep the water pointing towards the slide, rather than the other way on the grass, but the babysitter somehow maneuvered it to stay in place and point towards the slide, so I’m assuming it’s user error.
It’s 20′ long, so there’s a good amount of room to slide. With a weight limit of 110 lbs, it’s great for kids of all ages, and the water collects at the bottom of the Slide & Surf, making it a fun place to cool off when you’ve finished sliding.
The kit comes with two patches, one of which I used to patch up near where the hose is attached, as there was a tiny hole at the seam I noticed the second time we used it. We were losing a bit of water, but the air was still holding.
Tip: When it comes time to put it away, grab a big rubbermaid tote for storage, it’s the easiest way to get it out and put it away.
If you’ve got kids that want some water back yard fun this year, and want something easier (and less likely to ruin your grass) than a pool that’s going to sit there all summer long, Slackers Slide N Surf was fun, and kept the kids occupied for at least an hour at a time (longer when we added some soap into the mix).
