Trying to find a blanket that was as on-the-go as we were and that would stand up to park dates, working days on a picnic blanket and soaked kids from the splash park was a little bit easier when we discovered the Lightspeed outdoor waterproof blanket.
Perfect sized for an adult to lie on, or a family to have lunch on, the Lightspeed Blanket folds up nicely to a small messenger bag size, allowing you to use the carrying strap for grabbing it as you run out the door (or to keep in the car).
The first layer is a heavy yet spongy material that insulates the middle cushion layer from wet and hard ground. A top layer of soft, water repellent polyester brings it all together. The blanket features:
- Sewn-in guides make folding quick and easy
- Durable waterproof base
- Adjustable and detachable shoulder strap
- Large pocket for essentials
Even though the blanket is waterproof it’s still comfortable to sit on, even in the hot sun. After it’s become soaked with kids who forgot to bring along towels to the water park, it’s fast drying to allow you to fold it right back up, following the easy to use seams for easy folding, and put it back together until you need it for another adventure.
The fabric stays cool and makes for a comfortable place to sit while the kids are playing in the playground, or you’re getting a bit of work done, at the playground office, like I’m doing today. In fact, I’m writing this as I lie on the blanket at our local playground.
Find it at your local Costco store, with the seasonal and camping items in-store. We paid $27.99 and have been using it for almost a month at the playground, at the beach, in the back yard and on weekend adventures.
