Date nights are essential to my ability to have more patience and find happy. In addition to a quick running around for errands or shopping after we drop the kids off at their grandparents, or use one of the teenage babysitters in our neighborhood we’re making sure that we get out and do these five date nights (and one in) this month. There’s just so much to do in Edmonton and if you’re looking for date ideas, here are some of our plans for June.
1. Kick off Patio Season at Craft Beer Market
One of the best patios in the city, you’re going to want to head out to this rooftop patio for a summer dinner, without the kids. My top picks? The charcuterie and the coconut curry steamed mussels.
2. Dark Matter Adult Night at Telus World of Science
Anatomy themed coloring, a burlesque show and the chance to explore the exhibits without kids in tow and drinks in hand? Those are only three of the reasons that you’re going to want to come out to Telus World of Science Dark Matter date nights. Tickets are under twenty bucks, it’s a steal for the amount of fun we’ve had at every single night out.
3. Jurassic World – VIP Style
Jamie and I booked the front row seats the Windermere VIP theater for Jurassic World. The next day I got an invite for a trip out of town, and I grudgingly gave up my seat to his bestie. Jurassic World is going to be epic, and if there’s one way to see it, see it in the VIP theater, where you can get comfortable, get drinks, watch in style. I just booked tickets for the day after I get back – here’s hoping Jamie deems it worth a second watch.
4. Binge Watch Sense8 on Netflix
Grab some candy, the popcorn and beers and binge watch Sense8 on Netflix. I’ve been waiting for this one to come out since I saw the preview last month and I think it’s going to be a hit. Binge watching on Netflix pairs well with a kid-free weekend, or grandparents that want to babysit overnight.
5. Cirque du Soleil Varekai
The latest Cirque du Soleil show to hit Edmonton is here for a limited time engagement. You can get tickets for the show from about $40, and see the show live. If you’re thinking about a family date night, you can get family four packs of tickets for very affordable prices.
