Is it just me, or does the convenient service of being able to snap a photo of a cheque with your mobile phone and use it to deposit a cheque into your bank account still seem just a bit too convenient? I mean, you don’t even have to leave the house to cash the cheque that just arrived in the mail box.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not complaining, because the fewer trips that you have to make as a parent, the better – right? It still feels a bit strange, though I’ve been doing it more frequently lately.
You’re also quickly reminded that you’re raising your kids in the future, and reminded that they quickly see everything that you’re doing, and emulate it.
Olivia brought home two dollars and change from her grandparent’s Sunday dinner last night, and this morning she was searching frantically for her iPad. I asked her what she needed it for, and she responded that she needed to take a picture of the money so she could put it into her bank account.
I reminded her that we weren’t there just yet – and next time she’s going to have ask Grandma for a cheque, and encouraged her to go add it to her piggy bank – we could deposit it the next time we went to the bank.
Which, with convenient features like being able to deposit money with the click of a flash on the camera, probably won’t be for a while.
