Three Reasons I am Not Shopping on Black Friday

Lori Saving Money

Black Friday has some great deals, right? Everywhere you look there are sales for 30-40% off - but are these sales really that great? You really need to know your prices when it comes to Shopping for Black Friday and there are a few reasons that I’m not shopping this Black Friday.

Most of the Sales aren’t that Great
You are seeing lots of sales advertised right now for forty to fifty percent off of the entire store, or specific items in the store. Other sales though may look like they are great sales, like get 50% off of your second item when you buy the first one. Well, that’s only 25% off of each item. Not a great sale after all, is it?
There sure is a lot of hype - but it’s important that you know the prices of items you are shopping for before you head into the store. Otherwise you’ll get lured into the deals.
In fact, it’s likely that a lot of the toy sales will be that low again before Christmas, and have been that low in the weeks leading up to Christmas, that’s when I started Christmas shopping.
We Don’t Need Anything
Sure, there are some great deals out there right now (when you get past the not so great ones) but there really isn’t anything that is necessary to buy right now. Planning large purchases ahead of time or sitting down every couple of months and planning the purchases alleviates a lot of the ‘let’s just go shopping because I want to go shopping’ mentality and gets rid of a lot of the money spent.
Plus, if I were to go Black Friday shopping I would probably just buy things we didn’t need anyway.
I Didn’t Budget for Black Friday
There wasn’t really anything that we needed to shop for - and since none of the sales really caught my eye, I didn’t plan any budget space for Black Friday Shopping. So, it could come out the miscellaneous spending, but like I said above, there isn’t really anything that we need to buy.
The deals seem to be a lot better across the border. I mean, it is an American Holiday after all. If I were going to shop, it would be an across the border kind of thing. There were still some great deals here so it’s a good time to buy if you were going to shop for these items anyway.

What do you think? Do you buy into Black Friday?
