Are you looking for something new to do outside to get the kids moving and occupy them? I was too! Searching through Pinterest, I found a great activity for the kids, instead of hopscotch, because that gets boring.
We spent some time outside this morning make a hop scotch, when I remembered the pin that I saw - and created something that was going to be way more fun than a hopscotch, way more exciting and way more creative. This is a simple way to entertain your kids for hours this summer - and all you need is a long sidewalk, and some sidewalk chalk.
Some of the ideas that we used for the #activescotch are yell! roar! twirl! jumping jacks! rainbow, where you draw a rainbow and shout out five colors before you move on, ABCs, Counting, reaching for the stars, jumping from circle to circle and skipping. The options are endless. We ended ours with hugging, but it was more like running off to stamp a bug together, which I’m fine with too.
I think that the active scotch is going to be one our favorite things to do this summer and with Olivia getting more and more creative, it’s safe to say that we’re going to be stretched down the entire road to tire those kids out after dinner. You can race through it together, have races against each other and just have a great time being silly outside.
I secretly can’t wait until the next rain storm when we can start again (and get rid of the yucky sidewalks from having the lawn aerated).
