Five Minute, Easy Cotton Candy Play Dough

Lori Kids Activities

easy-cotton-candy-play-doughThe last week has been crazy around here. We’ve been bombarded with long to do lists, errands for days and an epic Costco trip to stock up on supplies. I’ve been asked to make ‘pink play dough, Mama’ no less than fifteen times by Violet and today, we finally had a spare hour to craft up some play dough, with a little something extra, cotton candy!

Easy Cotton Candy Play Dough Recipe

1 cup water
1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
1 tablespoon oil
2 tsp cream of tarter
1/2 pack of cotton candy flavoring from the baking aisle for the mix-ins icing
4-6 drops of neon pink food coloring

Mix everything together in a bowl until the ingredients are combined and then cook over medium heat. The mixture will turn from a waffle or pancake type batter into something thicker, that sticks together (and to the sides of your pan), like this -

After it’s all been mixed together, and it comes together in a ball, remove it from the heat and place it on a cutting board of the counter to cool off a little. Knead the play dough while it’s still warm and move on to your next batch if you want to make blue cotton candy to go with it. Use the rest of the cotton candy flavor packages, and more food coloring (blue) to create a fun cotton candy sensory activity for the kids.
