The combination of fresh mountain air and a day’s full of activities ahead leaves our family with bellies that need fueling. To do this, we combine a few of our favorite things to create an epic grilled breakfast cheese that can be eaten without plates and forks, that can be taken on the go as the kids run off to the playground or to find out which friends in the campground are already awake.

Grilled Breakfast Cheeses

Start with the classic grilled cheese base, your favorite bread and cheese. Butter the outside, like a traditional grilled cheese. Add a fried egg, another layer of cheese, bacon and ham to have a delicious sandwich that’s going to give you the fuel to adventure until lunch time. Grill on both sides, using a cast iron pan that will evenly distribute the heat of the Woods Quickfire Stove, or a griddle you can place on top of the burners. (Tip: Find it at your local Canadian Tire store!)

We like to add a griddle to our Woods Quickfire Stove to make it easier to flip a few sandwiches at a time, and fry up the eggs on the side. Easy to clean, it pairs well with the easy to use stove, that lights up instantly, providing you a portable place to cook while you’re in the woods.

Cinnamon Bun ‘Pancakes’

There are tons of hacks for bringing pancake mix out into the woods with you, but why not try something new (and easy!). Use a premade package of cinnamon buns and roll them out to cook on the stove in a buttered cast iron pan. They cook very fast, in minutes, and are sturdy enough for kids to take them as they run around the campground to try and find their friends.

Easy Breakfast Sandwiches

For a fast add-on, try the Woods Non Stick Sandwich Toaster, to cook eggs in the perfect size for English Muffins. Place ham on one side of the toaster, crack an egg, place ham on the other side and cook over the fire. When the egg has finished cooking, slide it on to an English Muffin and top with cheese for an easy (and delicious) breakfast sandwich.Camping breakfast sandwich Woods Toaster

Tip: Make sure that you season the sandwich toaster before using it - the insides of your breakfast sandwich will slide right out. Since you can cook these right over the fire, it’s a great way to multi-task and cook something else over on the stove.

The Woods Quickfire Propane Stove is constructed from durable stainless steel, has two 8.6 cm burners with individual cooking control, includes wind deflectors to help protect against flame burn-outs and my favorite part? Includes a stainless steel drip tray for easy clean-up. When you’re finished, you can fold it up and go home - where you can store it away and pull the compact stove out for your next adventure.
