Easy Banana Nut Breakfast Smoothie

Lori Cooking for Kids

During the summer, that routine looks a whole lot like waking up, breakfast a couple hours later. Come September, that routine is going to be rushed, and I’m going to need to get back on track getting breakfast on the table – and eaten, within minutes of waking up.

There are a couple of things that I’ve learned about feeding kids over the past few years: there’s success in anything you dip or drink with a straw. That brings me to share a recipe that you’re going to want to stash away for those mornings when you’re pressed for time and want to get some nutrients in the kids (and you), fast.

Tip: this recipe calls for almond meal. Using a powerful blender like the KitchenAid® Magnetic Drive Torrent™ Blender, you’re going to be able to toss in a batch of raw almonds and make your own, storing it in the refrigertor to use for smoothies and other recipes – you’re welcome.

Banana Nut Breakfast Smoothie

2 bananas
2 tablespoon almond meal
1.5 cups milk
4 tablespoon quick oats
4 tablespoon Greek honey flavoured yogurt
sprinkle of cinnamon
2 tablespoon honey
¼ cup walnuts

KitchenAid® Magnetic Drive Torrent™ Blender

What’s up with the magnetic drive? Well, let me tell you. You know how other blenders sit on a base and blend? This one is controlled with a magnetic lock function meaning that it’s not going to move, the pitcher is immediately engaged when locked-in and blending is controlled with a magnet. Cool, huh?

Top Feeding Feature: You know how sometimes you need to add more ingredients when you’re blending. That’s a breeze with the top feed, you don’t have to remove a lid to add ingredients - making it easier to make this breakfast smoothie (and other recipes) faster.

Everything Goes in the Dishwasher. If we’re making smoothies, I want to be able to stick the components in the dishwasher. The pieces that you’re going to need to wash easily fit in the dishwasher – making clean up a breeze.

Versatile settings. There are the four pre-set options (juice, soups, milkshakes, icy drinks) but you can adjust the speed using the easy to control knob. The traditional pulse option is perfect for the almond meal tip, above.

Tech-Cred. The LED lighting and new control knob, magnetic drive – all of those features give this blender the Tech Cred that just adds an extra bit of awesome to appliances in the kitchen. The KitchenAid® Torrent™ Blender is smart.

I’ve teamed up with KitchenAid to give one lucky reader the chance to win a KitchenAid® Torrent™ Blender (MSRP $599.99). Enter for your chance to win, below -
