5 Baby Items that are Worth the Splurge

Lori Tried it - Loved It

Finding the best baby items, on a budget - is something that I’ve become adept at. Choosing the hundred dollar bassinet at a quarter of the price of the designer one, and shopping for clothes a season ahead makes raising a baby less expensive- but there are certain things, a handful of things, I’ll splurge on.

Some of our favourite splurge worthy baby items:

Maxi Cosi Mico | The Maxi Cosi Mico tops our list of splurge-worthy items. At just under $300, it’s splurge quality because it’s one of the lightest infant carseats available - and we’ve splurged on it for both Olivia and Violet when they were infants. The lightweight style, canopy and classic design were a few of the reasons we keep going back. With two models available now, the AP and the Mico Max 30, we stuck with the AP as our kids barely reached thirty pounds by the time they were 3, let alone in an infant carseat. Bonus points: the carseats retain their value well if you re-sell when you’re finished with it.

The Stroller | Whether you’re going to splurge on the designer stroller with luxury finishes or a weekend trail ready stroller. A stroller like the Bugaboo Diesel Rock stroller comes with leather, studs, and a designer feel for parents that want to bring the party to parenthood. The finishes, smooth ride, and designer style are worth the splurge for urban parents wanting the most hip stroller available. On the other end, you’re might want to splurge on a great stroller suited more to the outdoors that can convert from a jogging stroller, to one that attaches to the back of a bike for weekend adventure, like something from Thule. The stroller is something that we use so often that it’s worth the splurge - pick something suited to your lifestyle.

Activity Mat | When it comes to baby stuff, there’s a lot of gaudy stuff out there. A lot of bright colored things that I don’t want hanging out in my living room for the first year, and a lot of things that don’t bring me joy when I see them. Gorgeous activity mats, whether from the Land of Nod, like the one pictured above, or a gorgeous play mat from Etsy, is going to be something you can keep, using for more than one kid, or pass on to your bestest-friend who has a baby after you’re finished with it, or stash it in the kids room for some fabulous decor.

Jujube Be Prepared Diaper Bag | We’ve used the same Jujube bag for a couple of years, and it’s worth the price tag of $200+. From a diaper bag that carries everything I need for a weekend trip, to being able to transport an entire working from home office to the indoor playground, it’s a versatile choice for busy Moms. As a plus, you can toss it in the washer or wipe the outside and the Legacy Collection has fabulous prints that are going to remain timeless, making it easy to justify the splurge if you plan on having more than one child, or if you go away for the weekend, ever.

Lifefactory Bottles | Olivia is seven years old, next month - and we’ve still got the same bottles that we purchased when she was a year old, and they’re still like new. The glass design makes them easy to clean, and the versatile tops means that we’ve used them on road trips, as water bottles, to hold milk for cereal in school lunches and will continue to use them for our third child.

There you have it - five items that are worth the splurge when you’re shopping for baby. I’ve let you know a few of mine - what are some of yours?
