Was I Starving the Kiddo? + Formula is Expensive!

Lori Uncategorized

It’s been two weeks since we gave formula a try for Violet to see if it would help with the incessant fussiness, the constant fussiness and the grabbiness at your food. It did.

And it’s like we have a different kid.

It’s been two weeks where we have been supplementing and the time that she spends nursing is getting lower and lower. Even when she does, she still seems starving.

At first I had hoards of guilt. How could the second child be so difficult to breastfeed? Why wasn’t this working? It was a solid 20 months before the toddler even thought about stopping and that was more me than her as I came down with a nasty flu. Then, the guilt went away about only making it to seven months when I think about how the poor kiddo was likely starved for the past couple months of fussiness. Now, we’ve moved past all that and realised that sometimes things just don’t work out as you plan -

And started to think about formula. More than the sample package that came in the mail a month ago.

Because that can did not last long! Luckily, a new friend gave us a case but it got me to thinking about where to buy formula, how much we were going to need and the fact that I should probably pay more attention to formula sales.

Then. I remembered a post that was written by Jen comparing the types of formulas and then I thought about Costco, it certainly was less expensive AND does contain the same ingredients. Plus, I Love Costco.

That’s an understatement. If Costco was a man I would do his laundry AND get past the part where it sits on top of the dryer, unfolded.

So, formula is added to our Costco list - and I’ve made a conscious decision to let the guilt go. She’s happy. She’s thriving. Life is great.

Have any tips for me about saving on formula? Is Costco the best bet?
