How to Make Colored Pasta Beads

Lori Kids Activities

Looking for something to do with the kiddos? Something new? Something that is only going to take you a few minutes to prepare for the next day? Colored pasta beads are simple and easy, take just a few ingredients and are a great choice for preschoolers to develop motor skills, practise sorting and learn new colors. There are many learning opportunities for colored pasta.
How do you make it?

1 c. dried pasta
10-12 drops of food coloring
1 squirt of hand sanitizer
1 ziploc bag/color

Sort the pasta you would like in the bag (one color per bag) add the food coloring and sanitizer, squish until covered evenly. Lay flat to dry.

A lot of the recipes online call for rubbing alcohol. Every time we are out I forget to pick it up so I used hand sanitizer that we hand on hand from an event this summer. It worked like a charm.

Tip: Dry the pasta overnight for the best results.

Get creative with the shapes and colors and have fun stringing it the next day!
