When it comes to birthday decorations, I generally avoid the ‘character themed’ stuff. Not only is it expensive, but the impersonal designs just aren’t as fantastic as the DIY decor that you can do for a fraction of the price. This is one my favorite things that we’ve made for Olivia’s party and it took about twenty five cents worth of clothespins that we painted to match the party decor and a $1.69 (+25% off) four foot string of ribbon from Michaels.
Combined with photos that we borrowed from the photo album, we had a fun birthday banner that is going to provide a fun way to display memories for the past four years at Olivia’s fourth birthday.

I really like how the neutral colors of the fence make the photos ‘pop’ and the brightness of the clothespins are so much fun. This banner is so fun that I think it would be a great choice for celebrations, holidays and fireplace mantles during every single holiday season.
Tip: The easiest way to paint the clothespins is to grab a cutting board, thick piece or cardboard or something similar and clip the clothespins on to the board before painting.
