Five Reasons You Should Join Us at the River City Roundup Cowpoke Corral

Lori Around Edmonton

Last year was the first year that we attended the River City Roundup Kick off event and we had a blast. We spent a few hours exploring each of the stations and going on the pony rides for some fun one-on-one fun for Olivia and I. We spent the entire morning checking out the Cowpoke Corral at Sir Winston Churchill Square - and had a great time doing it.

We are heading back this year. There are some brand new things to see and do and I know it’s going to be fun for the four of us while we check out the Cowpoke Corral. Here are a few reasons that you’re going to want to join us for a Saturday of fun on November 2, 2013.

There are Pancakes

You can’t get much better than a pancake breakfast. New this year, it’s going to kick off the festivities for the River City Roundup. Pancakes, sausage and juice are going to be served up starting at 9am - and it’s free. Bring along your sense of good will and have the kids pick something from the pantry to bring as a donation for the Edmonton Food Bank to show your appreciation. After breakfast, you can watch the gunslingers, get the kids face painted or check out a balloon artist.

There’s Pony Rides & Popcorn

Yes, you heard me right. Free Pony Rides. Between 11 and 4 you can take advantage of free pony rides and free wagon rides around the square. Last year, I had to pull Olivia away from the pint size ponies and this year I think it’s going to be just as exciting. Even the smallest palms can get their fortune reads in the fortune tent.

The Passport Farm Animal Hunt

Take part in the fun and free activities throughout the Cowpoke Corral and get a stamp for each activity that’s been finished. When it’s finished, you can go to the Bank (on main street) and redeem for your prize. Olivia loves a good scavenger hunt and list-following? Well, that’s one of her favorite things.

You Can Warm up at the City Hall Market

And, cross some of that last minute shopping off of your list. Inside the market at City Hall starting at 9 am you can warm up and check out the market - finding some local favorites and shop for those last minute ingredients for a weekend dinner.

The First 500 Kids Get a T-Bone Backpack + Plush T-Bone

T-Bone’s the mascot of the Cowpoke Corral and one of the River City Roundup celebrities. The first 500 kids to visit on Saturday (November 2) morning will snag themselves a free backpack + T-Bone plush. To get your prize, visit the Town Hall or the Courthouse in the Cowpoke Corral to receive your swag.

Come on over and say ‘Hi’ if you see us posting on Instagram or tweeting using the hashtag #rcr13 and Find out about all of the other wonderful activities taking place this weekend at the Cowpoke Corral on Saturday, November 2, starting at 9am.
