Spring comes with opening the windows, stashing away the winter gear and organizing all the things. The fresh, shiny, wonderful scent of spring in the house is one of the best ways to jump start the clean house.
Open the Windows
Getting the house fresh can be as simple as opening the windows. On the first nice day of the year we opened all of the windows downstairs, all of the windows upstairs to breathe some new life into the house, literally. It was perfect timing since we’ve all been sick for weeks. It’s one of the easiest ways to freshen up the house and helps to save on the cost of the smelly products I’ve come to love.
Shine that Stainless Sink
After you’ve cleaned the sink with dish soap, sprinkle a layer of baking soda over the entire surface of the sink. Add a small amount of water and use a scrub brush or a toothbrush to get in all of the nooks and crannies of the sink to rub off the build-up and restore the shine to your sink, in minutes.
Sanitize those Toys
Tea sets and kitchen toys, bath toys and more can be rounded up and washed in the dishwasher. You can use a regular dishwasher tab to run the toys through a load and sanitize them. The kitchen toys in our house get sticky quickly as the kids play pretend with regular food, and use the toys with sticky fingers. Giving them a wash once a season helps to keep them from getting too grimy and comes with the added benefit of being rounded up and organized.
Get Down and Dirty with the Floors
Get down and dirty and wash those floors on your hands and knees, getting to those areas that get neglected when you’re mopping. Using an all purpose cleaner with hot water, and a cloth, it’s a once a season way to get the baseboards and floors cleaned and ready for regular mopping up for the rest of the time.
Make a List
Make a list of the things that you need to do, and give yourself time limits to get through it. Having a list to plan the spring cleaning, and a time to get the tasks finished in will help you to keep you on track. Plus, the list can be used to assign tasks to other people in the household.
