Bikes for the season, weekends away with the kids, vacations and small things like rubber boots and new sheets - when you’re a parent, there are always things on your imminent ‘to buy’ list. In a few months though, that to-buy list is going to get smaller and smaller, with fewer things added to it as we ready ourselves for the next step in our future - a forever house.

We outgrew a condo when we had our first child, and we’re quickly outgrowing the space in the starter home we’re living in, especially when we think about having another child. We need another bedroom, at least, a bonus room and a larger basement space for the kids to spend time. Extra space, and features like a deck with room for a hot tub, an attached garage and more storage space, and an office space, are a few of the things on our wish list.

In September, we’re going to start aggressively saving for the future, with the plan to buy a larger home twenty-four months after we start, keeping the condo that we’re currently renting to tenants, downtown, for even more future insurance. We don’t know what our new door is going to look like, but it’s going to open a new stage of our life, our forever home.
