When you play video games with kids, you know that the goofier, the better. Yoshi’s Wooly World allows you to discover a new world where Yoshi discovers, comes unravelled and creates adventure for a great introductory game for parents and kids.
As you play through the levels, additional characters are unlocked, creating a high level of playability and encouraging the kids to make their way through the levels.
There’s a bit of excitement added in the bundle with the Amiibo, that you can place on the Wii U game pad to add another character in the game (one of our kids favourite parts).
I like the fact that the Wii U gives us the option to play on the screen of the television, or for a quieter activity, to play directly on the game pad. This is a great option for little kids that need a bit of help, as you can sit beside and help them with the motions, until they get the hang of it.
The kids loved the fact that you can make your friends into knitted balls and get them to the hard to reach areas, as well as finding those collectibles in the levels. I loved the imagery along with the fact that after a quick introduction they were able to play by themselves.
The game itself has been called short - but when you’re six, six worlds could take months to conquer - so, we feel like it’s actually a great length for little kids who are going to play a level or two, learn and practice, eventually conquer and put the game away for a little while. The worlds are fresh, and at world three (with help from the adult Yoshi fans) this game gets a big thumbs up from us.
