Scooters, for our kids, are the go-to method of transportation. Whether you’re zooming down to your friend’s house, six houses down the street or you’re heading to the local playground with friends - you’re going to do it on your scooter.
Violet has favored the Micro Mini Kick. Though Olivia has asked for a two-wheeled scooter, she’s still rocking the Micro Maxi Kick, surfing down the sidewalk on that three-wheeled action - faster than ever. We’re seeing these popular three-wheeled scooters popping up all over the neighbourhood, being used by toddlers and kids, who love the versatile options available.
What’s the Best Scooter for Your Child?
When you’re shopping for the first time, the options can be overwhelming. When we were shopping, we looked at what the kids in the neighbourhood were riding on, using reviews and scooter guides, like this one at Mastermind Toys, to find the scooter that’s going to work.
3 Wheel Scooters | These are a favourite between the kids. Both girls have been rocking the Micro Mini Kick from a young age, gaining exciting speeds as it gets them where they need to go. The unique, three-wheel design has fluid movement, and lean-to-steer technology that the kids catch on to really fast. Ages 18 months - 12
2 Wheel Scooters | Two wheel scooters are the next step up. Easily folded to be stored in backpacks and lockers, they are a lightweight option with adjustable handlebars to avoid having to replace it for kids going through growth spurts. These scooters have larger wheels, and require the kids to be able to balance, using two wheels.
Skate Park Scooters | We’ve already got a little trick-scooter-rider on our hands, so we’re going to be at this level, one day. These scooters are created with single piece welded T-bars and built for the heavy riding of aspiring stunt riders.
Try this: the space scooter. Similar to how a bike works, kids ride with two wheels on this scooter to engage the drive chain and propel the scooter like a bicycle. Why is it called the space scooter? The motion mimics walking walking in space.
Our top scooter choice? We like the Micro Mini Kick for little kids, and the MADD Gear Alloy kick for an affordable choice for older, more experienced, riders. Want to shop in Person? Stop by your local Mastermind Toys store and check the scooters out for yourself.
