How to Host an Impromptu Weekday Un-Dinner Party

Lori Cooking for Kids

More and more lately, we’ve been busier than ever, finding it even more difficult to catch up with friends. Two families in our close circle of friends have new babies, one family is in the middle of packing up everything they own and moving to a different house and the majority of us have been dealing with cold, flu and other illnesses in the kids, adults and back to the kids.

Dr Oetker Ristoronte Ultra Thin Crust

Getting together for a much-needed dinner party, to gossip, have a bit of a dance party and a few rounds of some of our favourite games has been more difficult than ever - and to be honest, I’m missing my village of Moms.

The Un-Dinner Party

Hosting an Un-dinner party is one of the easiest ways that we can get friends together. There are no fancy recipes, there are drinks-a-plenty and you can wear your pajamas, or yoga pants, or your oldest t-shirt, or no pants at all (if you’re close enough friends, that is). Dinner is put together quick, and you can all hover around the island, eating - rather than spending time preparing a multiple course meal.

There’s paper plates, to avoid spending time loading the dishwasher. There’s lamenting about the week, counting down until bedtime and a few opened bottles of prosecco or wine on the counter, shared between friends. At the un-dinner party, there’s food without the fuss, great conversation with friends, and a chance to reconnect, even on a weeknight.

There’s easy food, like frozen pizza. Yes, frozen pizza. Un-dinner parties mean getting food on the table fast, and what better way to do this than serving up something fast (but still yummy) like Dr. Oetker Ristoronte Ultra Thin Crust Pizza, served up with salad (from a bag) and appetizers (hand picked from a box in the freezer by a guest).

The next time you grab a few groceries, plan ahead for a weekday un-dinner party and grab a delicious, thin-crust option. Flavors of Dr. Oetker Ristorante Ultra Thin Crust pizza include: Capicollo, Oven Roasted Chicken and Peppers, Roasted Mushroom and Garlic, Roasted Vegetable & Goat Cheese and Spinach & Provolone.

With fancier dinner-party worthy toppings, a crisp and thin crust, and a variety of flavours that pair well with whatever bottle of wine you’ve grabbed from the pantry, you’re going to find it easy to get dinner on the table, for an impromptu un-dinner party. The three of us agreed on a favourite, the Dr. Oetker Ultra Thin Crust oven roasted chicken and peppers pizza, with the bright flavours of the pepper, delicious thin crusts and the perfect amount of chicken. The other great part, aside from the taste, is the fact that they cooked so quickly!

How many pizzas do you need for your next dinner party? For the three of us, two pizzas and salad were enough for a quick dinner with friends. Easy enough for an impromptu weekday dinner party, the pizzas are also a great choice for dinner. On our next grocery delivery, I ordered a couple of extra pizzas for a quick weekend lunch, or the next time we needed to get dinner on the table fast.

This blog post was sponsored by Dr.Oetker but the opinions are completely my own based on my experience.
