Have You Ever Filed a Home Insurance Claim | Win $200 from Esurance

Lori Saving Money

Over the past few weeks, we have been hearing more and more stories of homeowners that have the unthinkable happen to them – and in the instances where the homeowner is without home insurance, these situations become even more tragic. Serving as a warning story, these stories provide the case that homeowners insurance is an essential part of home ownership. Double importance, we’ve got tenants living in a downtown condo that we had outgrown before moving to the suburbs. For us, that means the insurance for the property that we’re living in, is just as important as the property that we’re not living in.

Have you Ever Had to file a Home Insurance Claim?

That condo is filled with memories. Memories of a whirlwind romance and Jamie and I coming together as a couple. Memories of where we became parents, bringing a child home and becoming a family. The condo is where we grew to know Olivia, and she taught us things that we could never have known without bringing her into our world. It is the place where when we return every so often just to check in on it. And the striped walls that I painstakingly designed and painted before we welcomed Olivia still brings a smile to my face. It was the first place we called home.

Insurance helps to not only keep us protected, but it is a place where these memories are kept intact. Where these memories are kept, until we return and are reminded of a life that started, together.

Alberta is the first province where Esurance homeowners insurance is available, to protect your belongings and property with a policy backed by Allstate. Shopping around for home insurance, we compared at least five different policy options. Using a service like Esurance allows homeowners to save time and money managing their insurance needs, with quick and easy online access.

Over time, our home insurance needs have changed. We’ve gone from minimalist twenty-somethings working hard to get our home established, to parents with an abundance of things that would need replacing if something happened to our home. The clothes, the toys, the ‘stuff’ – it’s unimaginable to think of the cost of replacement, but it’s something everyone should consider.

What are you protecting with home insurance? How much coverage do you need? Homeowners insurance has the capability to protect your assets in the case of theft and fire, to severe weather. Having the peace of mind that comes from being properly insured, for us, means having less stress as homeowners. Using easy to access online tools at Esurance, you can determine the type of coverage that is best for your family, as well as the amount of coverage that’s suited to your home and belongings.

When shopping around for home insurance, we were surprised at the amount of coverage suggested – one of the benefits of consulting the experts. There were many things mentioned throughout the policy that we hadn’t thought of on our own. It also made me think of how much things have changed, how far things have come and the ‘stuff’, the experiences and the memories attached – all of these things we’ve accumulated along the way. It’s up to us, as parents, to make sure that those things are protected.

Protected – but Easy

I don’t know about you, but when we’re searching for these new services for our home and finances, online access is one of those ‘top of the list’ features. Having access to accounts through websites and iOS apps enables us to track everything in our home, in an easy to access format. As busy parents, this connectivity is essential – and a great way to save time.

Most of the time, I’m finishing up the last few things on my to-do list, like booking hotels for the next vacation we’ve got planned, or scheduling a dentist appointment for one of the girls’, at night. Having online access to accounts is one of the factors that makes sense for parents – because let’s face it, the end of the day comes way before the end of the to-do list, right?

Online access to accounts is an easy way to access information and update accounts. We’ve found that most insurance policies aren’t accessible online. Esurance provides homeowners with built-in online tools to make understanding insurance as easy as possible, and saving valuable time.

We’ve never had to file a home insurance claim – but that doesn’t mean that we’re not prepared. If we’ve got to file a claim, we’ve spent the time learning everything we need to know about home insurance coverage.

Do you want to learn more about home insurance, or find out how much homeowners insurance you really need? Is it time to update your home insurance policy? Visit Esurance.com to learn more.
