Five More Free Things to do in Edmonton This Summer

Lori Around Edmonton

Looking for some free items to reduce the cost of hanging out in Edmonton? Here are some free Edmonton Events that you can mark on the calender to check out - without breaking the bank. Which of these are your favorite?

Tour the Art Gallery for FREE
On the last Thursday of every month, you can check out everything that the Art Gallery of Alberta has to offer, for free. Admission is free after 6 - and it makes for a great time to check out that month’s exhibits without paying the hefty fees of bringing along the entire family. Once you are finished check out the street vendors downtown in the evening, or site beside the fountains and enjoy a picnic dinner.

Go Bowling
Yes, you heard me right. Sign up the kids for the Kids Bowl FREE Program and they can get two free games of bowling at participating lanes in Edmonton, every single day. This would be a great time to come in, enjoy some air conditioning and avoid going crazy on those rainy days. Plus, with kids, bowling takes forever - so you can have some time to catch up on your latest book while they bowl. Win/Win. Anyone want to join us for water fights in Sherwood Park?

Spray Decks
Check out the City of Edmonton website to find the spray decks in your local area and head there for the afternoon to cool off. Find a shady spot to avoid getting too warm and you will likely have to get there early to get a great spot. One of my favorites is the one in Sherwood Park at Clover Bar (behind Superstore) and runner up is the one at the Italian Center, downtown. There is lots of shade, and the Italian Center is right there, for lunch.

Gluten Free Pancake Breakfast at Heritage Safeway
Looking for something for breakfast that is gluten free friendly? Check out Heritage Safeway. Gluten Free Pancake Breakfasts for Summer of 2012 Every year at the Kinnikinnick Store, the Canadian Celiac Association Edmonton Chapter and Kinninnick put on the biggest gluten free pancake breakfast in the city (dare I say in the Country! or even the world). July 26, 2012 - 7:30 am - 10 am.

Chinatown Festival
East Meets West - Chinatown Festival August 25 to 26, 2012 Chinatown (99 Street & 107 Avenue, NW) Free Admission Discover the colourful street, two cultures in one community, a unique destination and a living fusion of east meets west. August 25 & 26, 2012
