Celebrate River City Roundup Kickoff

Lori Around Edmonton

The city of Edmonton is something that I am passionate about. I am passionate about the people – and passionate about taking part in everything the city has to offer. Combine this with the love of all things local (like food!) and events and you have River City Roundup, a ten day festival celebrating agriculture and western heritage surrounding Edmonton.

To kick off the River City Roundup, there are some great events going on this weekend. For families looking for activities in the city on Saturday, Churchill square is where the action is.

Chili Cookoff
On November 2, 24 groups are going to be serving 5,000 bowls of chili to local fans that are out to brave the cold weather. Delicious bowls of mouth watering chili is one reason to get down to Sir Winston Churchill Square between 11:30 and 1:30 to sample a bowl for only $2. Now that’s a frugal lunch!

Saturday Activities at the Cowpoke Corral
Not only is the weather supposed to be wonderful on Saturday but there are some great activities at Churchill Square. I know one girl that’s going to be over the moon about meeting T-Bone and Jessie and Woody from Toy Story, The Barnyard on the Square and the Glitter tattoo artist.

The day is going to be jam packed with Activities, and you can find a complete list of activities to plan your day experiencing the River City Roundup, here.

George Canyon Kick off Celebration Performance
After a day of chili for lunch and a packed afternoon full of family friendly activities, celebrate the kickoff of River City Roundup with a free performance by George Canyon. Get there early to get the best spot and enjoy the 5:30 performance.

The best part? There are ten full days of activities celebrating Agriculture and Edmonton’s Western heritage.

Bundle up, bring the entire family and get ready to come down and enjoy a festival that is sure to make memories. It’s going to be a great time to get out and enjoy time together, without breaking the bank. With $2 lunch, free activities throughout the afternoon and a free performance by George Canyon in the evening, it’s going to be a blast – and if you see us there, stop by and say Hello!
