BuyBuy BABY is brand new to Edmonton. The new store that opened in December, features some of my favorite baby brands, expert staff members, a great new option for a local gift registry and in-store photo studio. You’ll find top baby brands like Joovy, Aden and Anais, the Honest Company, Skip Hop, Stokke, 4Moms + many, many more.
buybuy BABY is one of those stores I could browse in for hours. From the most fantastic array of strollers in the city to an entire area of patterned diaper bags, there’s something about the store that swayed me to having a third child, immediately. Bright colors! Swaddle blankets! The 2015 collection of strollers - including the hard to find front-runner of my top five favorite strollers, the Joovy Groove Ultralight (I love that purple!)
More than strollers, is the unique selection of furniture that you can use to create the nursery of your dreams. You know, for your first, kid - before a little thing called ‘second child syndrome’ starts to develop. The custom made furniture pieces have many, many options to choose from in regards to crib styles and finishes, and even features an heirloom quality Canadian brand, Mother Hubbard’s Cupboards.
The nursery chairs will change the way that you feel about the boring glider, and you’ll swoon over the embossed fabric, and many color choices. Plus, experts are there to guide you along the way with measurements and ordering help - they really know their stuff.
BUYBUY BABY Gift Registry
Walking through the store as a first time parent can be overwhelming. You haven’t had a couple of kids and a list in mind of what you really need. The organic labeling might confuse you - what’s the difference? You might not be sure of the difference between an infant or convertible car seat. buybuy BABY has registry help to guide you through the process of filling the baby registry with the useful stuff (and maybe a splurge or two).

buybuy BABY means you can shop for the Honest Company locally.
The staff members in the store can only be described as expert-level, impressing me with the tour of the store, choosing items that resonated high on the list of my favorite things, as top products, like Aden and Anais swaddle blankets, the Nuna Leaf: a baby chair that moves based on perpetual motion, and the Mamas and Papas activity chair.
There are a handful of things that I’ve learned you really need when it comes to bringing home baby. For me, the streamlined list includes a car seat and bundle me (a must for our cold weather), a stroller or baby carrier, a place for the baby to sleep, swaddle blankets for everything and a chair, because let’s face it - showering isn’t optional.
Save some money: buybuy BABY will price match online + local competitors. You can show the advertisement on your phone, in Canadian dollars.
Browsing through the store, I fell in love with the Bloom Alma Urban Crib, in green (it folds, for our bedroom!) and added it to my ‘to buy’ list for our next kid, along with the infant car seat that we used for both Violet and Olivia - the Maxi Cosi Mico (you can also find this at buybuy BABY). One of the lightest infant carseats available, I was immediately drawn to the white frame.
Pro tip: Don’t bring your five year old with you. She’s just going to want to play with all of the toys in the toddler toy section, and find a ball cap with an attached Elsa braid that she’s just going to want to bring home, forget about ten minutes later and leave you to pick it up off of the floor, 870 times before you finally decide to toss it in the toy donate bin when you’re on a minimizing mission. Bring your pregnant best friend and swoon over the cool things like sponges, made from actual sea sponges, and the stretching maternity wear.
