Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen is Open in Tamarack (Here’s What to Order)

Lori Around Edmonton

This week marked the first location of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, opening in Edmonton. With plenty of excitement, and line ups to show for it - it’s worth the wait for some quick and easy dinner if you don’t want to cook dinner this week. With busy nights filled with winter programming and activities, the dark coming on quickly, and long days filled with errands and work - sometimes dinner means fast food.

You’ve made the decision, you don’t want to make dinner - so what should you order from Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen?

Chicken Tenders | You can get the chicken tenders as a family pack, or just the tenders themselves - enough for the whole family, with three large sides, biscuits - for just over $50 for a 16-piece meal. For a dinner out for the (now five) of us, that’s on average.

Biscuits | When you order for the family, you’re going to have to order extra biscuits, because the handful that we had ordered with our meal weren’t enough for our biscuit-loving-little-people.

Popcorn Shrimp | Remember when you were a kid and your parents told you fish sticks were actually chicken? We didn’t have to do any trickery this time around because the kids immediately went for the pile of popcorn shrimp, and quickly declared how much they ‘loved the little chickens’.

Chicken | We opted for the mild and shared a four piece combo pack, with corn and mac and cheese, to switch up the sides a little. With so many different sizes and combinations available, you can find a meal for sharing, for the family, or something for the kids to share (there are kids meals too, if you want to opt for those).

Cajun Chicken Sandwich | This was Jamie’s favourite. The generous cut of chicken, well-seasoned chicken, and good choice of bun to go along with the chicken sandwich, it was his top choice of all the things that we sampled when I stopped by to grab a few items to bring home and try.

With three additional locations set to open in Edmonton in the next year, you’re going to be able to get your fried chicken fix (and those delicious, delicious biscuits) even easier.

Find Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen in Edmonton at 17 Street and 37th Ave, in Tamarack - don’t be afraid of the lines, they move pretty quickly and it’s well worth the wait. You can have a look at the menu, here.
