Comparing Four Meal Prep Services in Edmonton

Lori Around Edmonton

I’ve always been interested in trying the meal prep services - but have never taken the plunge. I don’t know if it’s the price and the fact that I compare the cost from making it at-home but looking through the menus, it looks like there are some delicious options available.

On those nights when I don’t feel like cooking, it might be nice to give it a try and have a few ready prepared meals in the freezer. Here are four of the options available for meal prep services in Edmonton:

Cena (Sherwood Park)
Pros: $30 fees are waived for New Moms (love this feature) three months before, and three months after birth.
Cons: No option for you to prep the meal due to time constraints - looks like you are going to automatically pay the $30 assembly fee.
What’s the Cost? prices vary by entree
Cost of Extra Meals: prices vary by entree
Coupon codes are available, $5 off $180 to $25 off $300. Daily meals can be picked up on the way home for around twenty-dollars.

Simply Supper
Pros: Delivery is available for $15-25. You can bring school age or babies in carriers along to the session. I like the fact that they give you the choice between 2-3 or 4-6 servings. They offer the option to switch to whole wheat rice and pasta.
Cons: Minimum of $1,500 booking for private parties
What’s the Cost? 12 meals/$185 (2-3 servings) 325 (4-6 servings) + $35 if it’s prepared
Cost of Extra Meals: $20-35
I’ve heard great things about the chocolate chunk cookies from Simply Supper. There are fourteen different meal choices every month. $27.60 for extra meals (4-6 servings)

Dashing Dishes
Pros: There is no charge for breaking up the servings into smaller portions. Lowest price to add-on meals of other meal prep companies.
Cons: No Kids can come to the meal prep session, No gluten-free dishes available
What’s the Cost? $250/12 dishes $180/8 - additional meals for $20
Cost of Extra Meals: $20
There is a $25 meal prep fee if you want to pick up the already prepared dishes to save time. If you come five times, you receive 10% off of the sixth.

Dinner Factory
Pros: Nutritional information easily found on the website. Meat is local, antibiotic free and all food from scratch, no preservatives, dyes or chemicals.
Cons: $40 charge for 12 meal to be prepared and picked up
What’s the Cost? 12 dishes/ $174 (2-3 servings) $324 (4-6 servings)
Cost of Extra Meals? $28
You can stop by on your way home and grab meals for $19-34 (2-3 and 4-6 servings)

What’s your experience? Have you used any of these companies? Do you have another to recommend?
